FLASH® Joins Homeowners Insurers at Hurricane Expo to Provide
Information About Protecting Homes from Storms.
TALLAHASSEE
The Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, Inc. (FLASH®) is partnering with
homeowners insurers at the South Florida Hurricane Expo in Palm Beach County on April 29-30 to
present Homeowners Insurance Checkpoint, "a program designed to educate Floridians about better
protecting their homes against hurricanes". Representatives from Citizens Property Insurance, USAA,
State Farm, Allstate, Liberty American Insurance Group, and the National Flood Insurance Program
will be on hand to talk to consumers about how hurricane loss prevention measures like shutters,
enhanced roofing, etc., may prevent wind damage and even save money on homeowners insurance.
"Homeowners Insurance Checkpoint" is part of the first annual South Florida Hurricane Expo, a twoday
consumer show and conference created to help citizens deal with hurricane season and its many
challenges. The expo will feature hurricane protection products, exhibits, and seminars. Located at
the Palm Beach County Convention Center, the Expo will be open Saturday, April 29, from 10 am to
5 pm; and Sunday, April 30, from noon to 5 pm.
In addition to participating in "Homeowners Insurance Checkpoint," FLASH will present a seminar
on Sunday, April 30, from 12:30 - 2 pm about how to strengthen homes against hurricanes using
proven techniques. The Expo’s seminar program also features more than 25 presentations from other
organizations including: the American Red Cross, the National Weather Service, and FEMA.
The Expo is sponsored by NBC affiliate WPTV5, the International Hurricane Protection Association
and Hurricane Protection magazine. For more information about the South Florida Hurricane Expo,
